MiyagiWays
Portrait of J. Labuschagne

About

J. Labuschagne

Educator · Coach · Writer · Thinker · Creator

I didn't set out to build a publishing brand. I set out to answer a question I couldn't put down: how should we live? MiyagiWays is what came out of asking it seriously, for long enough, in more than one form.

"Live simply. Think deeply. Walk your way."

By day, I teach and coach — work that's taught me more about patience, repetition, and the slow accumulation of character than any book has. The writing happens in the space around that: early mornings, quiet evenings, the odd stretch of school holiday.

My influences don't sit neatly in one category, which is more or less the point:

Christian faith & Biblical wisdom Stoic philosophy Japanese simplicity & contentment Psychology & education Sport & discipline South African landscapes & communities Everyday conversations

How These Books Are Created

I believe in being transparent about the way my work is created.

All of the written and visual content published through MiyagiWays is created using AI-assisted and AI-generated tools.

The ideas, themes, concepts, questions, creative direction, and inspiration behind the work originate with me. I use AI as a creative tool to develop those ideas into books, stories, reflections, designs, and digital products.

AI is therefore an important part of my creative process, but MiyagiWays remains driven by my own questions, interests, values, and creative vision.

A Quiet Letter

New books, ideas and reflections.

No unnecessary noise. Occasional emails when there's something worth saying.
